With at least 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 there were release outlook posts describing what could be in the upcoming releases, but there was no such note posted about 1.7. Has this practice ended?

sorry for the very late reply. In general we didn’t decide to give up this practice. In the 1.8 announcement there is a small “Getting Ready for 2.0” section talking about the plan to get to 2.0. I think we can do better here. By the way you can always see what’s in the next release by browsing the release notes on the gradle sourcecode. This document is a work in progress document and usually gives a pretty good overview what just introduced into the master.
