The publishing plugins have been around for a while, the publication model and metadata generation are well understood and better design than using a configuration.
Yet I see people sticking to the old plugins because they perceive “experimental” as “risky”. Then we end up with gobs of build code that would have been unnecessary if we were using the publication model.
