# Cordova buil error

Hi all, I know this has been asked before, but I am not able to solve it.

cordova build gives me:

```gradle
Checking Java JDK and Android SDK versions

Initially I had Java 22 and I dowgraded to Java 21 but the proble still persist. I am using Gradle 8.7 and I am using Mac Terminal

You are not using Gradle 8.7, but Gradle 7.6 and that is not compatible with Java 21:

thanks for you reply.  
the output of gradle --version is

```gradle

OS: Mac OS X 14.4.1 x86_64

```

So how I am using 7.6? Is there a setting I need to change?

This is also the content of ~/.gradle/caches

I tried to delete the directory 7.6 but once I give `cordova build` it comes back.

Which Gradle version you have installed is irrelevant.  
Usually, you do not even have any version of Gradle installed.  
Any sane Gradle project includes the 4 Gradle wrapper files that control and manage the Gradle version that is used to execute the build if the wrapper is used and you should always use the wrapper.
